About Earth Sky + Water
Earth Sky + Water (ESW) is a boutique publishing firm dedicated to capturing the beauty of nature through scientifically accurate illustrations and localized identification guides. Our journey began with a single vision: to make nature more accessible through high-quality, durable field guides.
Founder Steven Lewers first recognized the potential of laminated nature identification guides while serving as Director of the Peterson Field Guide Series™ at Houghton Mifflin. Inspired by this concept, ESW launched its first title, Shells & Beach Life of Sanibel & Captiva Islands, in a multi-paneled, waterproof FoldingGuide™ format.
Since then, we've grown to produce over 100 regional FoldingGuide™ titles, along with museum-quality posters, greeting cards, and boxed notes. Today, our team of eight works from a historic mill building in Wilton, NH, and a small home office in Bellingham, WA, collaborating with more than 30 naturalists and illustrators. Every one of our 1,000+ unique products is designed, manufactured, and assembled locally in New England—ensuring the highest quality while supporting our regional economy.
